12-Volt Power strip

In an effort to avoid inefficient, power hungry, inverters I created a set of 12-volt power strips that can connect directly to a solar charge controller. Depending on the size of the solar cells used and the power requirements of the load, up to 8 independent 12-volt devices can charge simultaneously. All outlets are standard cigarette lighter style which allows connection of cell phones, computers, and other 12v devices. The strip above is equip with an 8-amp reset-able circuit breaker.

The picture on the right shows the units at work (modified to six outlets) at the school in Keur Sadaro Senegal. This school now has 3 high efficiency systems which can collectively charge 18 computers at once.
