Nickel Slots is illuminated by CNC-cut slots on all sides and the front face, fading through meditative warm and cool tones at random intervals and in random order. It can run plugged into USB power, or untethered for six-plus hours on a charge. A button toggles the piece between standard always-on mode and "sculpture mode," which lets it operate unplugged for more than a month by fading in and out at random intervals of 8 to 12 minutes.
