Upcoming Show with Mel Prest @thegreathighway Gallery
Come see Lighting Room! San Francisco artist couple Mel Prest and Andrew Kleindolph will show new paintings and sculpture, respectively, at the Great Highway Gallery 3649 Lawton St. from mid-October through November. An opening reception is planned for Saturday, October 17th, from 6- 9 p.m.
While not explicit studio collaborators, the play between Mel’s undulating line and color patterns and Andrew’s organic glowing forms might fool you into thinking the work was made to be displayed together. Mel will show works ranging from handheld pieces to room-filling five foot panels of visually electrifying hand-painted pathways. Andrew will show a mix of folded metal and colorful mixed-media tabletop sculpture, illuminated LED pieces, and internet-connected, occasionally changing sculptures. The front window will include a site-specific painting by Prest on the wall and Kleindolph electronic sculptures on the floor. Both artists carefully consider form, color, meditation, and movement in different but related ways.
In San Francisco’s Sunset neighborhood, The Great Highway Gallery is a great place to support local art and business. Gallery owner John Lindsey also runs the Rusty Ladel restaurant next door, which serves some of the best Clam Chowder (and other soups) in town. A sizeable parklet out front keeps the party going in the fog and ocean air.
